SHAWN RAY – Head Coach, Space Coast Hurricanes Jr. B |

Head Coach Shawn Ray is entering his first season as
Head
Coach of the Hurricanes Junior B Team in The
Continental
Hockey Association. For the past nine
years, he has
coached in the Apple Core Junior program
at either the
Junior A or B level. In 2004 – 05 Ray was
the Head Coach of the Apple Core Junior B team in the
Empire Junior Hockey League, where he coached the team
to a regular season championship. Before coaching the
Junior B Team, Ray started as an assistant coach on the
Junior A Team. He was later names the Associate Head
Coach of the Junior A Team and finally named Head
Coach/GM in 2005. He was instrumental in the team
winning the Eastern Junior Championship in 2002-03, as
well as sending many players onto Division I and III
colleges and universities. Ray is the owner and
director of Unique Hockey School that operates hockey
camps and clinics through-out the country. Shawn and
his wife Darian are relocating to Central Florida with their two kids Tyler (5) and Jordyn (3).

BRET THOMPSON -

Bret will
be entering his first season as asst. coach of the
Hurricanes Jr.B Team. Bret is no stranger to the
Hurricanes program, for the past three years Bret has
coached at the Midget and Junior level and played a
major role in the 2007 National Jr. C Championship
Team. Bret has coached at many levels of youth, as well
as the college hockey. He has coached at several
colleges and universities such as, RIT, Williams and NASC. After playing his college hockey for North Adams
State, Bret went on to play professionally for the BP
Flyers in Holland. He works as a Lanz Acquisition Specialist in Nashville, but still travels back to
Florida to assist on the coaching staff.

Peter is
the primary reason for the Hurricanes Jr. success.
After leading the Hurricanes to a national Championship
in 2007, peter handed the team over to the new head
coach Chris Crombie. Peter is now going to focus his
attention on the Hurricanes Bantam and Peewee youth
teams. Peter is a well respected European Skills coach
and offers the youth players plenty of hockey
knowledge. Before entering the coaching ranks, Peter
spent over twenty years playing professional hockey in
Europe. Grown up in Sweden, he played for the Swedish
National Team and the British National league with Wightlink Raiders and Basingstoke Bisons. He moved to
Florida back in 2003 with his wife Katie and son TJ
(7). Katie is the Development Director in the figure
skating program at the Space Coast Iceplex.
