Kyle Zelanka, a 93 birth
year defenseman from Hewlett, NY, recently returned home
from St. Cloud, Minnesota, after being selected to
participate in the USA Hockey Select 15 camp. Zelanka, who
is 5’11 and weighs 150 lbs., wore number six for the Green
team, scored the game winning goal with just under five
minutes to play in the Green team’s first victory. He has
played for coach Shawn Ray and the Jets since their
inception, traveling to Sweden with them in 2007, and
recently anchoring the backline on the Hub Cup championship
team in July of 2008.
“I’ve always enjoyed
playing for Coach Ray,” stated Zelanka. “His skating
instruction and knowledge of the game that he has passed on
has really helped me.”
He will be a sophomore at
Lynbrook High School this fall and playing Junior B in the
Empire League for New York Apple Core.
