Jr. Hurricanes Prepare for Huskies Showcase
 

           The Space Coast Hurricanes are heading north to play in the 7th Annual Huskies Showcase Tournament held in Fitchburg, MA December 7 – 9th.  The Hurricanes have been preparing for this college showcase since the 1st day of training camp back in August.

             This tournament will have every team from the Eastern Junior Hockey League, as well as many Empire Jr. B Teams.  With this caliber of hockey, there will be many colleges and Jr. scout’s watching some great teams face off against each other.   Such top teams as NJ Hitman, NH Monarchs, Boston Jr. Bruins, New England Huskies and the Bridgewater Bandits.  “This is a great opportunity for our boy’s to be apart of,” say’s Head Coach and GM Shawn Ray“With a great schedule against some great teams, it’s up to the players to impress the scouts for the opportunity to play at the next level.  I have several players that have been doing a great job all year and I think they are ready to make the jump,” ads Shawn 

            First up, the “Canes” take on the Portland Jr. Pirates A Team of the AJHL on Friday December 7th at 8:15 at the Wallace Civic Center.  Saturday they will face off against the Bridgeton Academy Prep School at 10:15am and then they will skate along side the EJHL At Large Team at 8:30pm.  The “Canes” will have their players tested against some very good teams and have the chance to make it to the next level.

            Right now the Hurricanes are sitting in 2nd place in the southern division of the CHA behind the powerful Whalers.  The Hurricanes are traveling up to North Carolina to face off against Team Carolina.  The last time these teams faced off, the Hurricanes took the three game sweep.  In order to hold the second place spot, the “Canes” need to do the same thing again this weekend.  On the injury list, Jeb Goddard should be back in the lineup next weekend for the Huskies showcase and Ben Hoffman is almost at 100%.
