McGinnis and Ninko
Heading North
Just recently the Space
Coast Hurricanes Jake Ninko and John McGinnis
signed with the Northern Mass Cyclones of the
Atlantic Junior Hockey League (AJHL). Cyclones GM Tony
Delesio has been scouting both of these players over the
last several months and just recently offered them Jr A
contracts for the 2008-09 season.
Jake Ninko, who has
been a Hurricane his entire hockey career will be holding up
the blue line for the Cyclones and at 6’3” 185lbs, he will
be looked as a go to defensemen. John McGinnis, who
lead the CHA in scoring last year as a rookie will try and
accomplish the same thing for the Cyclones as one of their
top recruits for next year. “Both Jake and John did a
great job for me and the Hurricanes program last year. They
take their development very serious and they understand what
they need to do to be impact players at the Jr. A level.
The Iceplex staff, fans and all the booster club members
are very proud of these two boy’s and we wish them the best,”
say’s Head Coach Shawn Ray.
They are joining one of the
AJHL’s top team who has been consistently moving players on
to the college level. Both Ninko and
McGinnis look to add their names to the long list of
alumni’s that have worn the Cyclones jersey. “I owe a
lot to coach Shawn, who really showed me how to prepare
myself for the next level. I’m working more on the smaller
details of being a defenseman. I am excited and looking
forward to next year,” Hurricane Captain Jake Ninko
say’s.
