The
Space Coast Jr. Hurricanes are setting up for their
second season in the Continental Hockey Association (CHA).
With the conclusion of the annual meeting and the schedule
in place, the Jr. Hurricanes are very excited about
the upcoming season.
The
Hurricanes look to kick off the season with their very
own Labor Day Tournament at the Iceplex in Rockledge, FL.
This will be an eight team round robin tournament with teams
from across the southeast. They will also be hosting a
“meet and greet the players gathering” for their fans and
members of the booster club sometime in September. Those
details will be available shortly.
The
Jr. Hurricanes home opener will be against the
Atlanta Knights Jr. B Team on Saturday September 27th
at 4:45pm and will return again on Sunday September 28th
against the Knights at 11:00am. “We had a great first
year and to make it to the finals of the CHA as a first year
team was unbelievable. We came within one game of making it
to the Jr. B National and the boy’s deserve all the credit
and I am very proud of them,” say’s GM / Head Coach
Shawn Ray.
The 2008-09 schedules will be posted very soon, but in the
meantime, the Jr. Hurricanes are still preparing the season
with several different spring and summer tournaments. The
next tournament will be the Hub Cup Tournament in
Bridgewater, MA when the Hurricanes spring team (JETS) looks
to win the Midget Hub Cup, just like they did last year when
they won the Bantam Minor.
