Jets Go 2-1 at Sr. Chowder Cup

The Jr. Hurricanes summer team (Jets) went 2-1 at the 2008 Sr. Chowder Cup Tournament in Walpole, MA.  After dropping their first game to a team from the OHL Major Jr. A league, the Jets rebounded to finish with a 2-1 record.  In their second game, the Jets faced off against the Pal/Bluestreak team and won 6-5. In their final game, Peter Kaliscik lead the offense with 1 goal and 4 assists as they beat up on the New England Stars 9-1.

Former player of Coach Ray’s, Peter Kaliscik was strong up front as he finished the tournament with 2 goals and 6 assists in three games.  “Peter has been a top player for me for many years now and I feel he will do a great job for coach Emery next year.  He has really matured as a player and played a great 2 way game for me this weekend,” say’s Head Coach Shawn Ray.

On the blue line, Jesse Lehman who is another former player of Coach Shawn’s was very steady and won many battles for the Jets.  “I have always had confidence in Jesse as a defenseman. I really miss working with him and I am very proud of what he has accomplished,” adds Ray.

Jess Lehman will be heading to Colby College and Pete Kaliscik is off to Plattsburgh State. Both will be starting their college hockey careers as freshmen next year.  “It was a pleasure to have them both once again play for me and I wish them the best of luck as they move on to the next level.  I look forward to having them come down to Florida and train in the future,” say’s Shawn Ray.
