Jets Compete at Pre Draft

The Jr. Hurricanes spring team (Jets) competed at the Pre Draft Tournament this past weekend in Walpole, MA.  One of the most prestigious Jr. Tournaments in the country, the Pre Draft hosted over 70 teams from all over North America in a three game round robin tournament that was heavenly scouted by NCAA, NHL and Jr. Scouts from across the country.  Even though the Jets did not make the cross-over, once again they proved that the players from the south can compete.

The Jets offense was controlled mostly by the line of John McGinnis, Jeb Goddard and Kevin Goumas who tallied 17 points in three games amongst each other.  Leading the way was CHA leading goal scorer John McGinnis with 7 points.  On the defense side, Chris Oertel, Jake Ninko did a great job controlling the blue line and goalie Tommie Shears held onto a 1.66 GAA through the three games.  “It was a great tournament for these players top gain more experience and at the same time get several coaches taking notice.” Say’s Head Coach Shawn Ray.

Next up for most of these players is the Hub Cup Tournament in June and then we are heading to the Jr. Chowder Cup tournament in July where the Jets made it to the final four out of eighty teams last year. www.proamhockey.com
