Hurricane Fundraiser a Success

The Jr.
Hurricanes held a fundraiser day at the Iceplex here in
Rockledge, FL on Saturday to help pay for their trip to
Pittsburgh, PA this coming weekend. Trudy Trask, the
mother of Sam (Simon) Trask did a great job organizing an
auction where she was able to bring in some great items.
The auction was a big hit for many families here at the
Iceplex, as some great items were auctioned off, such items
were: Autographed Pavel Bure Jersey and trading card,
Providence Bruins Autographed Hockey Stick, Autographed
Framed Picture of Wayne Gretzky, as well as massages and
many gift baskets.
Congratulations to TJ Nyman, who
was very aggressive in the bidding war against Hal Trask
for the skateboard. TJ was over heard telling his
dad (Coach Nyman) “Papa, I want that board no
matter what the price is; you must get it for me Papa.”
The
auction got very intense when many mothers of youth hockey
players and members of the MILA Elementary School got a
chance to bid on their favorite players. Dr. Butler
of MILA started off
the bidding on fan favorite Tommie Shears and Kent
Ramsey. The Waldron family seemed to have
cleaned house with their selections of players. They not
only won their bids with Shawn Bennett and John
McGinnis, but they also picked up Head Coaches Shawn
Ray and Peter Nyman as well.
Twila and Curt Batchelor
fought very hard in several bidding wars and walked away
with four player’s of their own. Curt was happy that
he added three older brother to his family after picking
Tyler Vokes, Luke Mollison and Andreas Johansson,
but it was Twila that had the biggest smile after
grabbing Jeb Goddard. Twila will need to hide the
blow dryer when Jeb and the other boy’s come over to clean
the barnacles of their boat.
Unfortunately for Kyle Houser,
his girlfriend Camilla was looking to spend under ten
dollars on him, but when it came to Sam (Simon) Trask,
she was battling Sam’s aunt for his rights and lost.
Jeff Goddard felt like a winner when he picked up
Matt Danna on sale for just $10 dollars.
Iceplex staff member Angela Krieger
could not hold onto Swedish born player Andreas Johansson,
but she managed to pick up Captain Jake Ninko for
$90. Jake will be helping her with the dog sitting business
she just started. Coach Nyman’s $2.50 bid was just
enough for the no-show John Jenning’s, but it was
Head Coach Shawn Ray that held on to win the bidding
war against Bob Whelan for his son Ryan.
Coach Ray was over heard talking to John McGinnis Jr.
regarding moving several hundred palm trees from the front
of the house to the back.
The Hurricane family would like to give
a special thank you to Trudy Trask for her hard work
and determination. We also want to thank the following
people for their generous donations and support. Twila
Batchelor, The Iceplex staff, Trudy Trask sister in law
Auctioneer Cheryl and all of the families and businesses
that support the Jr. Hurricanes.
