Four in Top Ten of CHA Scoring

For immediate release: 3/6/08

The Space Coast Jr. Hurricanes finished the inaugural season as a Jr. B Team in second place of the Southern Division of the CHA.  They finished second behind the Hampton Road Whalers, but managed to have four players finish in the top ten among scoring leaders.

John McGinnis ended up tying for first along with Whalers forward Kellan Lessard with 24 goals, 26 assists for a total 50 points in only 32 games.  McGinnis was the leagues leading goal scorer with 24 goals.  Jeb Goddard fought all season and ended up in sixth place with 20 goals and 23 assists.  Line mates of Goddard and McGinnis was Kent Ramsey who finished tied with Hurricanes Defensemen Tyler Vokes for seventh position.  Ramsey tallied 21 goals and 16 assists in 34 league games for the “Canes” while Tyler Vokes lead all defensemen with 7 goals and 30 assist.

All four players have done a tremendous job all season as did many of the other players on the Hurricanes roster.  The next big step is the CHA playoffs in Pittsburgh, Pa March 14th – 16th, where the “Canes” take on the Binghamton Senators and the Hampton Road Whalers in their first two games.  The “Canes” have not been able to beat either team this year, so they have their work cut out for them.
