The Junior C players took to the ice for their first time to play against the newly formed Space Coast Hurricanes Sled Hockey Team on Sunday, November 2nd, at 1:15pm. The Junior C players did surprisingly well against the sled team but were no match being defeated 6 to 5. (See pictures and more......)

The Hurricanes continue their 4-0 winning season with two wins against the Tampa Bay Bolts (3-1 and 5-3). The first game was played Saturday night at the Ellenton Sports Complex where the Hurricanes came out a bit sluggish. The first goal of the game did not come until 7:07 left in the second period from Chase Halbert with assists by his older brother Colin Halbert and AJ Nicholson. The third period was more active with the Bolts tieing the score 1-1 with 16:09 on the clock.  Scott Bangert pulled the Hurricanes ahead scoring with 6:36 on the clock with the assist coming from Harry Brockman.  Scott was fired up and scored  again with a wrap around at 3:56 left in the game.    

The second game was played on Sunday morning in Ellenton and the Hurricane were playing stronger. The Bolts started the scoring with two goals in the first period at 12:14 and 11:45. The Hurricanes responded with two goals from Colin Halbert at 11:27 and 5:12 and an assist from Jefferson Wright. The second period started with a "one on one" goal from Nick Parise at 19:00 with the assist from Jefferson Wright. The Bolts tied it back up with 9:41 left in the second period on a Power Play. The third period was fought hard and the Hurricanes broke the tie with a hat trick from Colin Halbert and the assists from Jeffery Jones and Harry Brockman with 4:58 left.  The Hurricanes kept the pressure on to the end with Harry Brockman scoring the final goal feed by Nick Parise from behind the Bolts goal.

 

 

10/1/08

The Hurricanes scrimmaged the Palm Beach Predators B team Weds (10/1)  night in Lake Worth. The Predators came out strong in the first period scoring two but the Hurricanes held their ground for being short handed. Nestor Logdal was in net and did an outstanding job keeping the Predators at bay.  The Predators scored twice again in the second period before the Hurricanes could put a point on the board. Harry Brockman scored with an assist from Nick Parise.  The Predator scored one more time and the final goal from the Hurricanes came in the last 5 seconds of the game from Forrest Berndt being assisted by Jeff Jones. Final score was 5 to 2.

9/27/08

The Hurricanes opened their season with two wins against the Miami Toros (11-5 & 7-5).  The first game was played on Saturday 9/27 at the Kendal Ice Arena. The Canes came out strong  with goals from Nick Parise, Jeff Jones and Michael Garcia in the first period , assist by Colin Halbert and Matt Goddard leaving it a 3-1 game.  The second period was also dominated by the Canes (5-3) with the  strong Garcia/Moran/Norelli line scoring  2 of the 5 with Michael picking up a hat trick. The third period was more of the same scoring 3-1 with goals coming from Scott Bangert, Jefferson Wright and Brett Sutton and assists from Jeff Jones.

The second game was played Sunday Morning. The Toros struck first within 23 seconds awaking the Canes to retaliate with four consecutive goals coming from Colin Halbert, Nick Parise, Forrest Berndt and Tyler Moran. Assists were from Andrew Norelli, Forrest Berndt, Nick Parise, Colin Halbert and Ryan Sutten.  The second period was disappointing with the Toros scoring 3 goals and the Canes came up short. The Canes came back in the third period with the Berndt/Halbert/Parise line scoring two with goals from Halbert and Parise and assist from Parise and Halbert. The icing was put on the cake with an open net goal from Brian Schulker ending the game 7-5.  

9/20/08

The Scrimmage  against Florida Institute of Technology (FIT) was Saturday 9/20  at the Space Coast Iceplex. The Hurricanes were dominant for the first two periods scoring 6 goals.  Tyler Moran stepped up scoring 2 goals and 3 assists. Andrew Norrelli , Forrest Berndt, Michael Garcia, and Scott Bangert all contributed with one goal a piece. The Third period was less active but the Hurricanes finished  FIT off with a goal from Jeff Jones ending the game with a score of 7-0.  Nestor Logdal was in goal for the first two periods and Fred Bourret played the third period. The Hurricanes had 57 shots on FITs goal with only 10 shots on the Hurricanes.

8/31/08

First Scrimmage against the Tampa Bay Bolts  was Sunday 8/31 at the  Space Coast Iceplex. The game format consisted of two  25 minute periods. The Hurricanes came out strong  scoring first but Tampa soon followed tying it at 1 to 1 in the first period.  The Hurricanes dominated the second period scoring three additional times winning the game 4 to 1.
