Jr. Hurricanes Split with FGCU D-III
2/13/10 The
Jr. B Hurricanes traveled down to Naples
to take on the Florida Gulf Coast
College D-III team and came away with a
victory on Friday with a 3-2 shootout
win. Adam Lundh stopped all five
shooters and Captain Jake Ninko scored
the only goal for the Hurricanes. "We
felt we could have and should have won
both games, but it was a great series
and it felt good beating a good team."
said Captain Jake Ninko. Both teams
battled hard especially on Thursday as
the lead changed several times.
FGCU took the lead with about ten
minutes left in the third period in
Thursday's game. The Hurricanes
pulled their goalie to give them a 6-3
advantage when the Eagles took two
penalties in the final three minutes of
the game. "We had our chances,
we were right there on the back door
with a chance to send the game in to
over time. We took a chance with
the 6-3 advantage by pulling the goalie
and it went in favor of the Eagles."
said Head Coach Shawn Ray.
